Albums
Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the band held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was well-received by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.
